Wedding: Alex & Lily

Note: For more pictures on the wedding, please click the Photo Gallery link on my right bar. What I’ve posted here is the best 33 pictures out of 500 pictures that I really love. The one uploaded on the slideshow is the next best 100 pictures that I like.

To begin, I was not the official photographer for my Nephew’s wedding. More of self invited only. Kekeke. Good thing tho as I can have my own sweet time to capture ‘moments’ and ‘details’ on the events and this is the best time for me to graps the new Tamron AF 28-75mm f2.8 lens that I just bought specially for this wedding too. Not to waste anymore time, here are the pictures:

Love the white blinds as it allowed plenty of sun to shine thru. This is Alvin, the bride’s Eldest Brother.

This is also one of my favourite, favourite, favourite pic.

Baby Princess took one of the postcard from the hotel. Without paying. ‘-.- I thought it was some sort of complimentary corporate holiday cards from the hotel as a token of appreciation, mana tau, postcard pulak. Potong stim. ‘-.-

Another shot of her that I love. Don’t be fooled by her innocent smile.

The ceremony (ROC) is about to begun.

Eldest Princess with her cousin. She had a better version of this shot on her PNS.

Niece – Crystal: Love the bokeh again.

During the swearing where the Registrar blurted, “Don’t hold hands yet.” and all of us burst into laughter. Look at the shying bride. Blushing man!

The million dollar question, “Do you agree to take this woman as your wedded wife?” “Yes, I do!”

The proud Mama aka my Eldest SIL

… and another one thousand hundred million dollar question, “Do you agree to take this man as your wedded husband, wash his underwear, cook for him, clean after him, spend all his money, etc…” (OK, I was just kidding. But the fact is true. *kekeke…)

Oh, man! If I was one of the audience, I would have weep the tears of joy too. I am the type that can’t watch soap operas. But that day was different. I was too busy taking pictures. I just wish she could weep longer! So the touching.

Initially the Bride was smart to turn away from the camera’s direction. I have to really squeezed myself between some potted plants at where I am standing.

Guess which hand belongs to the bride? No prize for the correct answer tho.

The Bride’s witness signing away at the dotted line.

This is also one of my favourite, favourite, favourite picture.

The official photographer at work. The funny thing is, he stands at where he is and I stand on the other end and never did once he came over my side for a shoot. Why ah? That makes me shy to walk over to his side too. So what you see is basically almost at the same spot i.e. next to the bride and he would have all his pictures took from the Bridegroom side. Crappy!

One happy family.

One of my favourite shots too. That way, the Grandfather doesn’t look so fat… sheesh…. 🙄

All the shots I took are mostly candid. Why? Because the official photographer was there. Duhh. And of course, I was kinda shy to ask the Couple to pose even though I have tones of idea running. Never the less, I still love the candid very much.

This is actually a group shot but I zoom all the way and frame at the Couple only. kekeke…

Makan time! This two years old niece can eat curry puff! I wonder how did the parents trained their kids as my 8 years old can’t even take anything with pepper on it.

By the time I open the food container, all I see is food crumbs. So sad and super hungry.

The Bridesmaid’s corsage. Also one of my favourite, favourite, favourite shots!

I stole this shot from far. kekeke…

In the evening during the tea ceremony, I tried several angle but they all don’t looks nice and all their movements are too fast. I gave up after a short while.

Was more than happy to be able to capture this moment. I tried capturing the teacup exchange but failed. Like I said, they are too fast for me. One of the reason is because I was too tired. Not drained energy but the camera is too heavy! They weight more than a tons after you put on the 28-75mm lens and external flash.

I am sure the photographer will thanks me for this shot. He better did!

The many fine details around the wedding banquet. I am glad I noticed their initial embossed on the wedding cake.

My nephew asked if I changed any battery during the event. Well, the camera body’s battery is very ‘tahan lasak’ (long lasting). But the flash battery…. I used up 8 pcs of rechargeable battery and 4 pcs of alkaline battery throughout the day. That is a lot! I think I will need to get more rechargeable battery as alkaline is too expensive.

My verdict? Overall, the Tamron AF 28-75mm f2.8 lens is good superb. It gave me more control compare to 50mm lens as most of the time, I will masuk longkang (falls in the drain). I don’t mean to say wide angle are good. They have their own specialty actually. I still love 50mm for portrait shots but wide angle is still better for covering events.

More pics in my Photo Gallery. Enjoy…

New Gadget

I have whole lots of new gadget last week. Firstly, it was the onigiri mould and onigiri bento boxes that I just bought. To compliment to the onigiri, I bought a new plate just for photography sake. I know, this are all the wacky stuff a blogger did and I am one of them. Beside the new kitchen gadget, I bought myself two camera gadget too.

It was the Tamron AF 28-75mm f2.8 lens and Canon Speedlite 580 EX II external flash.

Just a week before my nephew’s wedding, I tested up the new gadget and of course that included my new kitchen gadget.

The flash was pointed upright at 180deg, 2.8f ISO400. Picture was a bit dark tho. I have the flash pointed about 45deg with the same camera setting. The outcome was:

Well, a little over exposed. The problem is, flash doesn’t work in macro and when you shoot in vertical, you should turn the flash to face upward and not side way. Those are the things to remember. Can remember ah???!!! So many things to remember now!!!! Don’t ask me to invest in flash memory $$$.

There are lots more to learn and explore with the new gadgets. Will see how it turns out during my Nephew’s wedding. On the other hand, of course the onigiri taste nice la. I can’t go wrong with my cooking.

Stay tune…

Nephew’s Cutesy Snapshot

Managed to take some photographs on my nephew again.

This 11 month old nephew is responding to words now. That is him doing the peek-a-boo. Sometimes I felt babies are so innocent. While holding on the bottle, they managed to melt your heart with their cutest ‘peek-a-boo’ pose of all.

This is what I meant by “sticking-out-tongue” :p

After looking at the first pic, the 2nd and 3rd pic has nothing to hoo-haa about. Furthermore, it is not easy to get him to make goofy faces. Maybe I should go kidnap older babies. Any volunteer?

Little Xavier

This is my first time photographing a Caucasian baby. Little Xavier is Daddy Boss’s youngest son. It was a breeze as the child is very photogenic. Little Xavier is learning how to walk and was seen busy cruising from one furniture to another. That is double bonus as I am able to catch up with his pace as he is not moving or running to fast unlike some 2 or 3 years old child. Totally love the bright orange wall colour too as they make a perfect backdrop.

Xavier’s Mummy commented that I am good (photographer). However, I replied her that she has a beautiful baby. That really makes a lot of difference to a photograph.

Anyhow, I find my photographs is getting more boring. I see the same stuff every time. Portrait, portraits and more portraits. Urgh! I need to learn something new. Or maybe get a new lens. Woot!

Little Xavier just turn one few days ago. Happy Burfday, Xavier! Lots of hugz and kisses from Aunty.

p/s:  Daddy think I am bias.  Really?

The Flapping Wings

Can you guess what is the smallest bird in this world and how long is the length?

The answer is Hummingbird (no space in between please) and the length is 2 inches long 🙂

Took another flapping wings of the bee.

If only the bee is flying somewhere other than that black patch, I would have a clearer picture of the flapping wings. Not all thing happens to be how we wish them to be.

Took the shots from our recent trip to Avillion, Port Dickson. They have a Lotus pond too. I missed the chance as it was pouring heavily.

Morning Glory, Morning Dew

One very early morning, can’t remember if it rains the night before, the garden smells so fresh from the morning dew.

They say early bird catch the early worms. Even the ants was seen collecting the pollen. (Huh? You mean ants eat pollen too? Aiyah, nevermind.)

Ah then…. don’t know what to crap now.

You know, in certain country for example Harbin, during their freezing winter season when the temperature drop below 40C, what greeted you in the morning is not dew. Everything was frozen up.

Isn’t this a beautiful sight? One day I will make sure I have this picture taken by yours truly punya Canon 400D. You just watch this space la. Dunno when is the day. haha!

Wedding: Andrew and Agnes

The night before the wedding, I was still debating with myself if I should go ahead to be the OFFICAL photographer for my Cousin’s wedding. Being the official photographer means I cannot afford to make any mistake. Pressure was on me now. At the other hand, if I pulled out, Cous will have no one to take pic for him. I think I’ve made the right choice after seeing all their guests and friends snapping away from the mobile camera.

Just shaddup if you think so and so Louise Pang or Kid Chan or Ah Tat can take better picture than me. I am not a professional photographer. The pictures I took are mainly for my eyes only and for fun. You don’t compare an orange with a watermelon, right? Thru this experience, I’ve learn a few things about myself. The bad ones would be lack of experience and lots of weaknessess. And you don’t think my Sifu is easy to deal with. When you go to him for advice like, “Sifu ah, why the pic like this and like that wan?” In return, he will question me back instead of telling me the answer. Me, “I increased ISO to 1600 and switch on the flash. Aparture f5.6 liao wor.” Sifu final answer will be, “If that is the case, go get a new lens and external flash.” Really char tou!

Please enjoy the full wedding pictures from my gallery. In future, you may also click on the ‘photo album’ link which is situated on my right bar. Good thing I’ve decided to upload them on the gallery so that I can spare the mercy on my readers for the torture and eyesore having to going through tons and tons of photographs in my blog. Here are some random shots that I like.

This shot will looks nice on a fish eye lens. Too bad I don’t have one.

Oh, spot my new watermark? Another Cousins was saying my previous watermark is too distracting. It should be mini like the Mini Cooper.

I totally love this shot on Cous main door.

Love the new watermark.

I was waiting for this moment. I hearts fake lashes!

Sorry about the zits. No time to photoshop it away. Totally love the lashes again.

Learned a new trick so that I don’t appear in the mirror.

Some people may not like darker pic so I have another one taken with flash.

What do you think? I still prefer the first one. Regretted that I didn’t took the full length of the dress. Was just plain lazy to change my lens.

Conversation with 8 y/o: Mummy, why *hands was seen cupping her own breast* it must be so big? Mummy, why *hands cupping her own breast again* they like it to be different there? (Lots of glitters)

With the help from natural sunlight. Totally love the effect.

Was standing on a chair. I think I need a ladder! *you lazy ass. where is your wide angle lens again?*

Effect from natural sunlight again.

Reminded myself to take a shot of their rings. I just keep on forgetting. Urgh!

Black watermark doesn’t looks nice. Bluek.

Thanks Cous for giving me the opportunity to cover your wedding. Come collect from me your CD consisting of 370 pictures!

Silhouette

Muahahaahaaa…… I just came back from my 4 days holiday in Pangkor Island. I can’t help myself but to spam my blog with pictures again. But I promised you. This is something very different. I have never shot anything so magnificent before. The sunset in Pangkor Island Beach Resort (Formerly known as Pan Pacific Pangkor) is really awesome! I have never seen anything so beautiful before.

Pictures taken at 7pm.

At the beginning I thought it is not a good idea to have the coconut in the picture, but the more I look at it now, the more I like it.

This is not taken at Pan Pacific. This is in Pasir Bogak beach. The one in town. It would make a even better silhouette with a couple smooching on the beach.

That’s me in one of the yoga pose called Dancer pose.

This is my favourite shot of all. I was so thrilled to see the Hornbills and the longer I stay, more Hornbills flew down for their dinner.

I shall post more pictures on the outing in my coming post. aitelyu, the hotel is truly out of this world. We love going back there again one day.

Close-up Shot Without Using A Macro Lens

Ever since I bought a 50mm F1.8 lens, I have been neglecting my 18-55mm kit lens that came with the dSLR unless I need to take a panaromic shot. Till lately, my youngest Sister, Janet share with me a new trick using the 18-55mm lens to get a crisp and super clear close up shot.

The above pic is shot using 18-55mm lens at a distance of 3 inches away. Some distance similar to my Sony T-10. Now, this is how you do it:

Follow the red arrow indicator. Switch your lens to MF (manual focus). Aim camera at your object and focus the sharpness by moving the front portion of the lens and not the center as that is your focal zoom. Very simple isn’t it? Try the trick. I’m sure you will love it. With this, I don’t have to spent few thousand ringgit on macro lens. Now don’t say I never share with you guys any good tips hor.

My First New Filter

(Note: Manglish post ahead. Anyway, today is Friday ma so let’s chill a bit, ya? 😉 )

Many, many moons back, I attended my school’s Alumni makan-makan gathering. This pic was taken by one of my friend, Justin, who is using the what-what-tau-hin-hin filter.

You get three images in a shot. So you know la, such a super cool filter I thought I must go get one also. But then hor, let’s just keep the long story short. I get this filter instead.

Si beh chun hor. This filter can make your image likes a bit mabuk (drunk) lidat. This filter is called….
