The Flying Stripe (Jalur Gemilang!)

It is 3 weeks away before we celebrated our 49th independent day but I can’t wait to read the Wedding of the year which falls on the 21st.

The law granted that all commercial buildings are compulsory to fly the national flag. Failing which, one will be fined and jailed (geee… that’s a heavy price to pay) and we are just doing our part here in the office yesterday.

Flags aren’t expensive here. They are sold at about RM10 (US$2.70) only but over the years, we have faced several thieve stealing our flags. How silly can that be. This time round, we are smart enough and not tied them on the ground floor pillar.

This morning while driving to work on the highway, I saw a car with the miniature flag sticking onto it’s windscreen. As he is driving at quite a speed, the double-sided-tape gave way and the flags flew and hit my direction. Luckly it didn’t aimed at my windscreen but fell to the tarred road. I have no choice but to run it over if I do not want to create a massive accident on the highway. It sadden me a bit at the incident.

If my memory still serve me right, last year the government has called off and notices are given about the danger of displaying the miniature flag on the windscreen. It should be placed on the dashboard or the interior but not the exterior of the car.

Points to ponder: What is the meaning of Patriotism? It is not about displaying our National flag. Patriotism is about willing to stand first in line during war and willing to die for your country.

Last year, there is a group of bloggers who organized the blogging in Bahasa Malaysia on August 31st.  I think this is fun.  I’m up to it.  Anymore who wants to join in the campaign?

I think you guys have a pretty flag. Wonder what all the symbolism means?

Though I am glad I live in a free country where I can choose to fly the flag. Gaoman cannot dictate patriotism, but it can stir up dissent. I better stop. Sorry.

The Queen says:  There are 7 red and 7 white strips  which resembled 14 states in Malaysia.  The Star and the moon shows that this is a Islamic country (dem!  thought we are supposed to be a multi national country???!!!).  The star had 14 pointed ends which also resembled 14 states.  When I was in my childhood, I have problems drawing the 14 pointed ends.  But I think American flags are worst!!!  Was it 50 stars?

Some idiots cover the vehicle with flags and even wear the flag like clothing. Personally I don’t agree coz in my opinion, you’re not respecting the national flag.

Fifty stars. One for each of the states. They only have 5 points, but still very hard to draw. Thanks for the explanation.
