Bento Mania #55 – Pasta & Ham Salad

*psst… yes, I’m back from my cruise. Pics will come later. Haven’t started any processing yet.*

While the kids had cutie looking pastas two days in a row, I can’t wait for our chance to savour that packet of maple leaves shaped pastas.  errrr… I could be wrong on maple cos they are not maple at all.  Correct me if I am wrong.  At the mean time, let’s just pretend they are maple 😉 .

While the adult had lots of greens, the kids had ham sandwich which I do not intent to blog. The left over ham from the cut out (star), I cut them into tiny bits and they all goes into the salad. Nothing goes to waste that way. I like french dressing. Too much mayonnaise is a bit geli plus mayonnaise is fatty. NO?

The above bento belongs to Daddy. I make him a hard boiled egg out of the star egg mould which has been dusted by some black pepper. I reckoned a heart shape egg is a bit too mushy in the morning. LOL However, I make myself a heart shaped egg cos I have no other mould left except kiddie moulds.

This is my breakfast and lunch. What to do, have to jaga badan a bit. And why does Daddy had Strawberries but I have golden kiwi? That is because I share half of the kiwi with my other kids. This happen to me all the time. I just filled up what ever food I have.

This time I did not dust black pepper on my egg cos I find the pic look dirty with them. Cute eh?

the leaves & animal pasta were all SO cute, where did u got them?
and so does the heart shaped egg….i wonder what was d reaction on yr huby’s face if u put the ‘luv’ egg into his box instead of the star…..must be sweet & hillarious!!

The Queen says: Bought the pastas from SG Cold Storage. He might think the heart shaped egg is so sissy can die! Or rather, he will be embarrassed to eat them in front of his colleagues. lol

Seriously, you should open a bento restaurant if ever you get tired of your current job. Your bentos look fantastic.

I have not started cooking or bentoing, but i wonder, if lets say we have left over dinner (chicken), it is always ok to refrigerate them and then heat it up for next morning’s bento? I am worried in the long run not too healthy for the kids? Or say, freeze pasta sauce for a few days? Is that ok? Otherwise, I cannot imagine cooking something in such small portions everyday.

The Queen says: It is ok to freeze or refrigerated your food. Refrigerated food can last 12 hours and freezing sometimes can last 6 month. That’s what the misi told me about freezing breastmilk. But I never encourage freezing food for long term. Who say I cook such a small portions. I have 5 lunch boxes to filled each time! I don’t cook for one person but 5 mouths.

Love your ham and pasta salad. Like you, I too don’t fancy mayo too much. I don’t like Thousand Island that much either. I prefer Ranch dressing though…

now i am thinking if i wanna go for starcruise or not. i have always wanted other countries cruises like caribbean ,etc.. but starcruise looks fun too!

The Queen says: After what I’ve experience, I think the further I go is probably Superstar Virgo. Can you imagine travelling to Caribbean is about 2 weeks on the cruise? I think I’ll grow bored with that!
