Bloggers Meet: BKT cum Photography Lesson in Klang

I was frustrated with the result of my photography and has been bugging Kamkuey to hand me some ‘face-to-face’ tutorial rather than ‘online’ tutorial. And since last Thursday was a public holiday, we took that as an excuse to meet up for brunch too. Well, there’s also a ulterior motive. Hehe… want to meet up with his jar boh pren also ma (Sorry, no pic. *ngek, ngek, ngek*)

With partner in crime, Athena. (psst… do you think she looks like Sammi Cheng or not?)

Both our spouses was there but I didn’t take their photo la. Not that I’m interested with other people’s husband.

haha… just kidding!!!!

Well, a bit of havoc created by my kids at the beginning. Fighting, yelling, crying and my camera dropped on the tarmac road. Good thing it was in my camera bag - well cushion!

Food! The ever famous Klang dry bak kut teh.

My fellow guests never failed to give it a thumbs up. All scrapped to the bottom. Nothing was left except some dry chilies.

We adjourned to Bandar Bukit Tinggi for another specialties in Klang. The Yu Yu ice (Mandarin - Yau Yau Ping). Whatever it is. So, lots of testing shots here and there la. Kamkey with his ever famous trick shots:

Si beh chun hor. It is not easy. A lot of coordination work with the zoom and shutter button.

I played with his 50mm F1.4 lens too.

Chun to the max! Look at the creamy background.

Finally after many sessions of theory, practical, quoestionaire, even some head bang from Kamkuey, I do understand ………………………………………………………………..

Gonna Get Myself a Christmas Pressie

Soon, after tomorrow, I will be the proud owner of Canon EOS 400D!

Envelope Image Credit: Newlife’s Dreams

This time I have seriously betrayed my husband, my kids, myself to buy something that is over the household budget but the offer is too good to resist. I can’t sit and wait for my advertising money to come in next year just incase the shop deny me the attractive prices he is offering now.

Since tomorrow is Hari Raya Haji and also a public holiday for me, I’m going to bring my ‘new baby’ home.

Sorry, Dear.

Woohoo for me! Yay!

Häagen-Dazs® Fondue

I have not been cooking for the past few weekends. The reason is very simple. I.Am.Just.Plain.Lazy. *insert evil laugh*

Another reason could be the new opening of Jaya Jusco in Bandar Bukit Tinggi. They are situated just a stone throw away from where we live. So tell me, what makes us not going there every weekend be it window shopping, indulging their glorious food or even acting like an Ah Soh buying 10 packets of Tops Detergent priced at RM9.90 just because other Ah Soh is doing the same thing? (you must be crazy to think that I’ve actually done that)

Ok, back to me being lazy to cook. So far, the craziest things we had (or maybe not that crazy but my Mom think it is!) for dinner is 12 pieces of donuts from Big Apple. My Mom freaked when she heard that.

Hmm… what is the best way to make my Hubby freak then? Bill from Häagen-Dazs®!

The fondue set is as expensive as my dinner but we deserved a pampering once in a while.

The thick, creamy and rich chocolate. Such a sinful meal, I would called it. Fruits platter on one side, and…

… ice-creams and cakes on the other side.

Dunk the ice-cream in the hot chocolate *drooling*

or if you favour…

coat them in crunchy almond nibs.

Chocolate chips cookies is sinful enough, but when you dunk them in the melted hot chocolate…

… start counting the calories. Gotta watch that waistline la, Dude!

I’m lost for caption. Can anyone suggest something catchy or hillarious for the bubble speech?

Well, if I like your bubble speech, you are in for the next fondue *treat with the Queen. How does that sound? ;)

* Terms and condition applied.

Malacca Zoo Trip

During the 4 days of Hari Raya break, we was invited for a open house makan-makan in Malacca. We decided to make it a day trip since my parents bunk at my place to visit my other sister who recently gave birth to a baby boy.
The only fun and interesting place a child could visit is the Zoo. It was indeed quite a rush trip in the zoo as we try not to tired ourself as Hubby need to drive back to Klang again. All I can say is…. I’ve seen what I want to see. I need something more spactacular.
I mean the ANIMALS! lol

It was a wet and humid day. Each of us has a total of 4 ice-creams to cool ourselves and quenched our thirst. This marked our latest record of most ice-creams consumed in 2 hours. lol. It’s a holiday afterall. The kids get to eat whatever they like ;)

The Baby Has Arrived

Credit: Scrapgoo

My sister’s newborn has arrived last week. We get all excited wanting to carry the little infant in our arm and cleaning up the little bum-bum or changing his nappies bought some nostalgia moment back again. But you know how the little ones can wailed like a coo-coo train; Loud and longggggggggggg. *sigh…

p/s: You don’t have to remind me to go for the 4th one *sticking out tongue*

GO FLY KITE LA!

Tulan note: Actually hor, my mood now is equivalent to today’s title. Feeling sibeh tulan can die lidat. There’s always two side of a story to tell. Mine, will be the untold one.

Last weekend Bil ask if I care to join them to fly kite (pun intended). I jumped on the opportunity! To me, anything out of my house is a blogable item. This is also another reason why I love Klang so much. We are just a stone throw away from beaches and sea.

Bil suggested we should made our own kite from lidi and newspapers. That is so fun and ridiculous. During my childhood days, the kite that I made always failed to fly in the sky. We’ll see about that but not today.

Colourful Kites

The place that we are going is called Tanjung Harapan or Esplanade. You can buy the kites at the beach from as low as RM8 and some bigger ones is sold at… RM40? I’m not very sure tho.

Dissapointed to say, Prince is not interested in kites after merely few minutes of holding the string. I guess he’s looking for something more…. entertaining, than standing there navigating the kite. Moreover, the kite is made from fabric. They are so light you don’t need to navigate them at all. Oh, and the wind is so strong! Everything just flew including your skirts.

My Favourite shot - The Kite, the Boat & the Man

I’m trying hard to get his picture taken, but failed. You can tell he is getting bored by then. Bil took over the kite. I snap this pic in time before the kite goes higher and it’s impossible to focus them in the frame without cropping Bil’s head. Everything was in a perfect position.

Some random shots on Baby Princess…

We took a bite here and there from roadside stalls. They have Ramli Burger, Tauhu Bakar, various type of drinks, corn in a cup, ikan bakar (grilled stingray), kerang bakar, ABC, maciam-maciam la (and many more).

And finally, the sun has set….

I love all these silhouettes pictures. I have tones of them :)

Just imagine what will happen if I post up some smooching shot ;)

Fast-fast boat in Pangkor Island

What is the motivation to wake the kids at 7.30am on a sleepy morning?

“Wake up ade. Want to sit fast-fast boat or not.”

Daughter jumped out from bed. As usual my 5 y/o son still slumbering in his dreamland. Last night was not that good as Baby was not feeling very well so we let her slept thru leaving her under my mom’s care.

The day is finally here as I have promised kids and bribing them with so-called fast-fast boat thingy.

What is fast-fast boat? Island hopping la. The boat cruised at a very high speed and sometimes maneuver left and right creating some chaotic moment. Girls being girls with all their squeaking scream. Gah! (Can you spot my pic with our so-called leng chai tour guide? Cute boh?)

The island hopping is inclusive of snorkelling but since some of us aunty is visiting wants to remained dry, we forgo it. We will always have another trip since Pangkor Island is so near only. Right?!

One of the tour guide showing off his diving skills sea rambutan (scary!) and sea cucumber (geli!).

During one of the hopping, we was shown the ‘Free Trade Zone’ in making. Looks like it’s a long way to completion.

Fast-fast boating sports. This is called Banana Boat. They sure looks fun yet boring sitting on the inflatable Banana Boat.

Wait till they capsized your Banana!

The adults is having fun and so do the kids cos they are allowed to sit in the speeding boat.

“Want to try some more or not. This one is called Hamburger.”

Go figure out the hamburger ;)

No more fast-fast boat and kids is back to their mischevous self :(

——————————————————————

Unrelated to fast-fast boat:

This is new to me. Hornbills flying freely near the beach. Very unusual sight as I thought Hornbills only live in the forest?

Living to my title -

A Queen needs to do what a Queen ought to do. Next time, I’ll get them to bow down to me. Wakaakaakaaaa….

A Little Ranting on CNY

Chinese New Year (CNY) is also known as Spring Festival (春节 - Chūn jié) or the Lunar New Year (农历新年 - Nóng lì xīn nián) is the most important of the Chinese traditional holiday.

Let me share with you random pictures I took throughout the festive season.

Low Sang aka Yee Sang

Traditionally practiced during the seventh lunar month which is also called “Yan Yat” (every human being’s birthday). Dishes consist of thin slices of raw fish (most commonly used are salmon), crackers, shreaded and pickle vegetables, herbs and sauces. While tossing and mixing the ingredients with a pair of chopstick, one should also chant out loud - Huat ah! Huat ah! which means prosperity. There’s also longivity and liveliness but some hockkien Ah Pek forget them all. Who cares. Toss them as high as you can!

Gingko Dessert (Pat Kor - cantonese)

Longan flesh with Gingko and red dates simmer for hours in rock sugar water.

Fireworks

Back then, we used to play sparkles and some fire crackers. Nowadays with the technology advancement, we get to watch 15 minutes of fireworks display for free. There are many beliefs about why fireworks are used. One is that the noise wakes up the dragon who will fly across the sky to bring the spring rain for the crops. Another belief is that the noise of the fireworks is supposed to scare away all evil spirits and misfortunes, preventing them from coming into the new year. Do not forget, it is illegal to light up fireworks.

New Year, new clothes

A suit of new clothes is a must to significant a new year. Here comes a new Superman PJ’s. Yeah, new red underwear for Superman too. Red symbolizes fire, which according to legend can drive away bad luck.

Again some random shots in the temple.

I find these hanging joss stick very interesting. Makes a good photographic item too.

2 Hours of Fun & Food

You like this collage? See the “Google’s Photo Organizer” button on my right sidebar? Download the software and start your own collage!

————————-

What can we ask for more amid the humid weather lately? We are dying for cool breeze! and I think it’s a good excuse to gather family members for a picnic at the beach ;). There are 16 adults and 9 kiddos - no joke. Morib beach is the nearest beach in Klang and I think it’s the only beach that can be found in Klang Valley.

You like fun? We bring lots of toys for the kiddos. There is even a toy truck so the boys are busy transporting sands and the girls basically busy picking shells and building sand castle. We had adult toys too. Not a Vibrator ok! …. a kite!

I’m just to obsessed in photography and this is the best time to take silhouette shots. I took many many of them and really love it so much.

Not forgetting the act of jumping. We jump and jump and keep on jumping just to get a perfect shots where all of us are leap in the air. aitelyu, it’s not easy!

I love this shots the most.

Contrast perfectly balance for my liking. Not too dark. But a perfect silhouette shot should have a brighter background and darker image. I know nuts about photography actually. So if you are a pro, give face a bit ok? We took lots of different post - buddha and duck post. lol. It was so much fun.

They have some kind of wrestling going on too.

2 person will get on the balance bar and start hitting. Whoever falls in the sea lost the game. Who wants to be my opponent???

Picnic can’t go without food. Since there are so many of us, we decided to have BBQ picnic.

Another collage by Picasa aka “Google Photo Organizer”. Download the software now from my right bar.

Excuse me on the burnt food. This is only few burnt, we have more burnt chicken actually! What to do, the wind is too strong plus we have few hiccups at the beginning.

When adult started to get mischievious and abandone their toys, what do they do? They decided to experiment with their food.

Coke + Mentos = ???

6ft Explosion!!!

Sorry about the pic. This is a failed project :(. FAILED!!! Failed to snap any picture actually. I so hate myself that day. How could I did such a mistake. You see, I was distracted by hubby (shouldn’t have ask him to be the cameraman!!! *grrrrr) and one, just ONE, mentos accidentally fell in the coke. It just exploded. Wakakaaa…. I was wet and it was definitely hillarious. Amazingly how only one mentos can create such an explosion. I’m go to do this again in 2 weeks time. Just watch out for this space. Ahem!
