*Goji Berries

What is goji berry? Most commonly within the chinese community, goji berries is also known as wolfberry which is usually found in a dried form that looks like a red raisins. They are planted in subtropical weather around China, Mongolia and in the Himalayas in Tibet.

As a chinese nation myself, I used to include goji berries in most of our daily cooking especially soups. China herbalists believe that goji berries may help to boost one immune system, improve our blood circulation and improving eyesight. Goji berries are rich in antioxidants and containing 18 Amino Acids which is six times higher than bee pollen, more Beta Carotene than carrots, more Iron than spinach, 21 Trace Minerals, and 500 times more Vitamin C by weight than oranges! The 13 % protein in the Goji Berry is higher than whole wheat, and displays an insulin-like action that is effective in fat decomposition.  Particularly the carotenoids such as beta-carotene and zeaxianthin and the 4 unique polysaccharides which are relatively complex carbohydrates.

In recent years, goji juice has become popular as a health beverage. In fact, increased intake of goji berries may help prolong one age and reduce age-related disease such as bad eyesight, blindness and vision loss. The best part is, it may help you loose some weight as the same time.
