Custard Apple & Jujube
Custard Apple come in green or magenta. They are soft when it’s ready to consume. Apply some pressure by pressing on the skin.
The flesh is milky white. It tasted juicy and sweet. The art of enjoying them is, take a mouth full of flesh, wiggle your mouth with the coordination of your tongue and teeth to seperate the flesh from the black seed.
Don’t swallow the seed!!! Spit them out. Repeat the whole process again.
JUJUBE aka Red Dates
The usual red dates found in Malaysia is sun dried. They look like this.
Common huh.
This is the fresh ones from Beijing. And no! I didn’t go to China.
You can see some is still green but the fruits will turn red when it is fully ripe.
Taste sweet and crunchy. But the skin is a bit hard. So it makes them… chewy.

I recently craving the red dates like hell, just this morning, i gobbled more than 50 biji. The red dates from northern park especially from “San Tong” are the best to consume. How i wish my mum can taste it now.
The Queen says: Luckly you 🙁 . I had only 6 biji. Ate one biji myself, let my eldest sis try one biji, then the rest 4 biji gave my mom who is still recuperating from her surgery.

I love those custard apples a lot… Very hard to find ripe ones. And they cost a bomb in the markets lah!
The red dates, I use them a lot in soups. Makes it so sweet.
The Queen says: Harloooo, usually the one sold in the market is still hard. They will ripe in few days time but if you want to speed up the process, put them in your rice (beras bukan nasi hor)Â

last week, I had a fruit(dun know the name) which is a cross between custard apple and soursop. Looks like a giant custard apple, buah besar, biji pun beeessaarrrrr………den sweet and nice.
